I am rather late writing this review as I finished reading The Unmumsy Mum in May, after receiving it as a birthday gift in April (motherhood definitely delays things!).
For those of you that don’t know The Unmumsy Mum is a book written by Sarah Turner of The Unmumsy Mum blog (here’s the link… go check it out!) in which she writes about how motherhood isn’t quite what she imagined!
As many of us that are first time mum’s probably know, she is very right! It is a very good book to read if you are in the throws of being a FTM! Here is what Amazon say about the book:
“The Unmumsy Mum writes candidly about motherhood like it really is: the messy, maddening, hilarious reality, how there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach and how it is sometimes absolutely fine to not know what you are doing. The lessons she’s learnt while grappling with two small boys – from birth to teething, 3am night feeds to toddler tantrums, soft play to toilet training – will have you roaring with laughter and taking great comfort in the fact that it’s definitely not just you..”
It is all very true, she discusses calling her children many colourful names (I know I am guilty of this one.. Sorry Aoife!), about how she didn’t realise how carefree her life had been until she had children (Again sorry Aoife, but I must agree. I will never moan about tiredness again, until I have another newborn!) and about the things involved with being a mum but into words we all want to say, but will never say out loud!
A definite must-read for new mums (and old!) alike!
Thanks for reading.
